About Us

Basch’s commitment to excellence began in 1946 when Donald J Basch Sr., "Pops" graduated from Cleveland Trade School to begin his career as a watchmaker. In 1972 "Pops" became a Certified Master Watchmaker, only one of 2 in Cuyahoga County to achieve this prestigious title.

Donald’s son, Anthony “Norm” Basch, began his apprenticeship as a watchmaker in 1977. He attended the New York Rolex Certification School earning their "Rolex Certified Watchmaker Certificate". Norm and his team of watchmakers continues to attend seminars and workshops sponsored by the Ohio Watchmakers Association and the American Watchmakers Institute, fine tuning his expert skills. Most notably Norm Basch in June of 2009 has been awarded the titled AWCI 21st Century Certified Watchmaker (CW21) by the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute.

Certification by the American Watchmakers-Clock makers Institute is achieved only after successful completion of a comprehensive examination. Certified watchmakers are tested on their ability to evaluate timepieces and determine the most efficient and professional method to put them in proper working order. The exam is designed to test a craftsman’s theoretical and problem solving abilities. By earning the title of AWCI 21st Century Certified Watchmaker, Norm joins a select group of craftsmen who are recognized by their peers, the public, and the watch industry for their expertise in horology.

In 1994 Norm took all the expertise he learned from his “Pops” and created a duel functioning retail business, “Basch’s Moment In Time”. Here our wide ranges of customers find a complement of services. Basch’s Moment In Time welcomes you into a showroom of fine jewelry, watches and clocks. Norm & his team of onsite technicians are located just beyond the showroom. These highly skilled watch and clockmakers are stationed at their repair benches expertly working on all your repair and restoration needs.

In 1999, the store doubled it's size to what it is today.
